Front Gallery:Home Sweet Home”
by Shini Pararajasingham

Home Sweet Home is a comparative study into a capitalist society’s perceptions of a housing crisis versus that of a third world, poverty stricken nation. On entering each constructed miniature house you delve into what is important to a specific race of people and type of society.

Upstairs Gallery:
Mask of Sanity-Portrait of the Female Killer"
by Nadine Mannering

'Serial killers are not monsters: they are human beings with tortured souls...'

The phenomenon of female serial killers is one that is rarely examined. With few exceptions, the female killer is one in a position of great trust, a carer to those who are helpless and fragile. Her victims are emotionally connected to her; they are her lovers, her children, or elderly patients in her care. She lacks empathy and guilt, she is calculating and manipulative. She gains from killing what she lacks in her everyday life - attention, pity, control. Mask of Sanity strips these women of colour and context. She is no longer a caring mother, compassionate nurse or attentive wife, but a 'tortured soul' who has acted on her most sinister desires. This exhibition aims to separate the women from their status as carers and nurturers, remove the mask, and reconfigure them as remorseless killers.
